1. Eligibility and authority
The renter confirms that they are at least 21 years old, possess a current and valid driver's license, are legally permitted to enter this agreement, and have provided accurate information. Only the renter and drivers specifically authorized by Stone Ridge Equipment may possess, tow, or operate the trailer.
2. Tow vehicle, hitching, and pre-trip inspection
The renter is solely responsible for using a tow vehicle, receiver, hitch ball, electrical connection, brake controller, safety chains, mirrors, and related equipment that are properly installed, compatible, and rated for the trailer and loaded weight. Before departure and during the rental, the renter must inspect the coupler, latch, jack, chains, breakaway cable, lights, brakes, tires, wheels, ramps, gates, tarp, load securement, and visible condition. The renter must stop using the trailer and contact Stone Ridge Equipment immediately if any unsafe condition is suspected.
3. Loading and lawful operation
The renter must comply with all manufacturer ratings, axle ratings, tire ratings, gross vehicle weight limits, tongue-weight requirements, posted road restrictions, and applicable laws. Loads must be balanced, secured, covered when required, and rechecked during travel. The renter may not overload the trailer, carry prohibited or hazardous materials, transport persons or animals in or on the trailer, tow while impaired or fatigued, use the trailer for racing or unlawful activity, sub-rent it, take it off maintained roads where damage is reasonably likely, or modify or repair it without written authorization.
4. Equipment-specific responsibilities
Equipment-trailer ramps must be fully secured for travel and used only on stable, level ground within their rated capacity. Dump-trailer loads must be evenly distributed; the area above and behind the trailer must be clear before raising the bed; no person may stand beneath or near a raised bed; and the bed must be fully lowered and locked before travel. The tarp is not a load-securement device.
5. Pickup, possession, and return
Pickup is at 8001 Interport Blvd, Englewood, Colorado 80112. The pickup time-frame window will be messaged to the renter shortly. The renter accepts responsibility for the trailer from release until Stone Ridge Equipment confirms return. The trailer must be returned at the agreed time, location, cleanliness, fuel or battery condition if applicable, and substantially the same condition, ordinary wear excepted. The renter must not abandon the trailer or leave it in an unauthorized location.
6. Payment, taxes, security deposit, extensions, and cancellation
The full rental price, applicable taxes, and a $250 refundable security deposit are due through Stripe before the reservation is confirmed. The security deposit will be refunded after the trailer is returned on time in substantially the same condition as at pickup, ordinary wear excepted, and after confirmation that no unpaid damage, loss, excessive cleaning, missing equipment, late charges, tolls, citations, towing, recovery, or other authorized amounts remain. Refund timing may depend on Stripe and the renter's financial institution. Published weekly pricing applies to each complete seven-day period. Any extension requires written approval before the scheduled return and remains subject to availability and additional charges. Cancellations made within 24 hours of scheduled pickup are nonrefundable.
7. Damage, loss, theft, and expenses
To the extent permitted by law, the renter is responsible for loss, theft, disappearance, vandalism, collision damage, tire or wheel damage caused by impact or misuse, bent ramps or jacks, damaged tarp or gates, excessive cleaning, towing, recovery, storage, impound, citations, tolls, and reasonable loss-of-use resulting from the renter's possession or use. The renter must promptly report accidents, theft, damage, citations, and law-enforcement contact and must reasonably cooperate with documentation and any insurance claim.
8. Insurance and assumption of risk
The renter is responsible for confirming that their automobile, liability, property, and other insurance provide adequate coverage for towing, use, damage, and loss. Stone Ridge Equipment does not promise that the renter's insurance covers the trailer. Towing and loading involve inherent risks, including loss of control, shifting loads, equipment movement, property damage, serious injury, and death. The renter knowingly assumes risks arising from their loading, towing, unloading, dumping, parking, custody, and use of the trailer, except where responsibility cannot legally be waived.
9. Indemnification and limitation
To the extent permitted by Colorado law, the renter agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Stone Ridge Equipment LLC and its members, employees, and agents from third-party claims, losses, liabilities, penalties, and reasonable costs arising from the renter's possession, loading, towing, parking, dumping, unloading, or use of the trailer, except to the extent caused by Stone Ridge Equipment's gross negligence or willful misconduct. Nothing in this agreement waives a right or remedy that cannot legally be waived.
10. Electronic signature, records, and complete agreement
The renter consents to electronic transactions and intends the typed signature and checked acceptance box to have the same force as a handwritten signature. The renter authorizes retention of the agreement, entered information, timestamp, IP address, payment identifiers, and agreement-verification data. This agreement, the reservation details, and any written addendum accepted by both parties constitute the complete agreement. Colorado law governs, and any enforceable dispute will be handled in an appropriate Colorado forum. If one provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
This agreement is designed to document fair, responsible trailer use and risk allocation. Business-specific contracts should be periodically reviewed by qualified Colorado counsel.
